UNFPA-UNESCO Joint Programme – Silk Road Soap Opera

UNFPA has been supporting UNESCO since 2006 on production of ‘Silk Road’ radio soap-opera initiative aimed at educating population about reproductive health, HIV/AIDS, gender equality and other development issues, in cooperation with «Terra Group Ltd» media company. The Joint Programme outlines main provisions of cooperation and roles and responsibilities of the parties.

UNFPA-WHO Joint Programme - Improving maternal health care services

UNFPA and World Health Organization (WHO) work together on introduction and implementation of Beyond The Numbers initiative in the country. Since 2009 the agencies cooperate within the framework of a joint project that targets introduction of maternal mortality audit and near miss case review methodologies in maternal hospitals. The Joint Programme outlines main provisions of cooperation and roles and responsibilities of the parties.

Breakaway Game

Produced by Emergent Media Center and Population Media Center, with support of UNFPA, «Breakaway» is a game that offers youth the chance to discover how to become a champion. Through the game, the player encounters real life situations that resonate with a teen’s experience such as peer pressure, competition, collaboration, teamwork, bullying and negative gender stereotypes. Breakaway gives the player choices that allow them to make decisions, face consequences, reflect, and practice behaviors in a game and story format.

MTV “ME” Game

Produced with the support of Y-Peer (the Youth Peer Education Network), this game formed part of an on-line / on-air awareness campaign championed by the MTV Staying Alive Foundation aimed at engaging a youth audience on the important issues they face growing up. Sexual health, STIs, drink and drug abuse, bullying and many other social topics are covered with humor ensuring the experience is an entertaining one.

UNESCO “Fast Car” Game

Travelling Safely around the World — The game aims to provide young people with accurate and reliable information about HIV/AIDS, intending to educate and entertain as well as promoting healthy behavior. In this game, the player can race on circuits on five continents, and virtually visit some of the UNESCO World Heritage sites. It also presents images of sites and interesting facts about them as players race by.
