Uzbekistan Country Office roster of national
experts
Background
UNFPA, the United Nations Population Fund,
is an international development agency that
works in Uzbekistan within the framework of
Country Progamme 2010-2015 approved by the
Government of Uzbekistan.
UNFPA provides support in improving health
through reproductive health and maternal
health services, achieving gender equality
and formulating/implementing population
policies and strategies in support of
sustainable development. The current UNFPA
Country Programm has three main programme
components: 1) Population and Development;
2) Reproductive Health; 3) Gender Equality.
UNFPA run extensive programme of training
activities, research and advising to the
Government in the areas related to its
Country Programme.
In this context UNFPA, United Nations
Population Fund, seeks candidates to fill a
roster of national experts. The experts in
the roster will be a primary source for
drawing the candidates to fulfill a variety
of short-term assignments with UNFPA under
SSA ( Special Service Agreement) contracting
modality. These assignments include bit not
limited to facilitating national training
progammes, conducting research, supporting
national institutions in developing manuals,
guidelines and policy documents, etc.
Areas of expertise required:
National experts with relevant educational
background and experience in the following
areas of expertise are invited to submit
applications;

Reproductive health, including family
planning;

Maternal health;
-
Adolescent reproductive health;
-
HIV/AIDS prevention;
-
Treatment and prevention of STI;
-
Demography and population;
-
Gender;
-
Human trafficking;
-
Youth issues;
Qualifications/experience;
The following qualifications/experience is
required:
Academic requirements:
Advanced degree (Master degree of equivalent
or Doctoral degree) in medicine, public
health, demography,
economics, social work, sociology and other
economic and social science and liberal
arts.
Experience:
At least 3 years of relevant professional
experience after obtaining advanced degree
in the areas outlined above. Experience with
projects or programmes implemented by
multinational or bilateral donors is an
asset.
Behavioral:
Analytical thinking; planning, organizing
and problem solving abilities; strong
leadership and team-building skills, staff
management and capacity building experience;
ability to work productively and
cooperatively in a multi-cultural team
environment; ability to work under pressure
and to meet tight deadlines; highly
organized and result-oriented; advanced
verbal and written communication skills.
Language:
Fluency in oral and written Russian.
Adequate knowledge of Uzbek. Knowledge of
English is not required but will be an
asset.
Computer skills:
Proficiency in current office software
applications.
